ENTERTAINMENT.

E.N.S.A. record case made for transporting 78rpm 30cm/12inch discs, no date but probably war time, addressed to the officer commanding R.O.A.C at Trawsfynydd in Wales, there are 12 78rpm records inside, I am assuming that’s the amount that is supposed to be in it. The Entertainments National Service Association (ENSA) was established in 1939 by Basil Dean and Leslie Henson to provide entertainment for British armed forces during World War II. ENSA operated as part of the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes. It was superseded by Combined Services Entertainment (CSE) which now operates as part of the Services Sound and Vision Corporation. The Troops often translated ENSA to every night something awful.
