WOMEN'S LAND ARMY UNIFORM.

The Women's Land Army was created during WW1 to replace the male farm workers called up for the armed services, at the end of the war the WLA was disbanded then resurrected again for WW11 and carried on until 1950 when it was disbanded for good.

Women's Land army great coat dated 1945. Unfortunately the lapels have been cut off but apart from that it is in good condition. Thanks to Bernice Fletcher for donating her old great coat to my collection. To hear some of Bernice Fletcher's war time memories go to the veterans recordings section on the home page.

WLA Armband, each 6 months of service a WLA member would be issued a half diamond badge to sew onto there arm band to indicate how long they had served, so the owner of this armband served for one and a half years.
